Last updated: 3 August 2026

This privacy policy explains how Sheridan Selvon, trading as Selvon, collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit selvon.co.uk, make an enquiry, become a client, or receive relevant business-to-business outreach.

Who is responsible for your information

Sheridan Selvon, trading as Selvon, is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

Email: [email protected]
Website: https://selvon.co.uk/
Location: United Kingdom

Information I collect

The information collected depends on how you interact with Selvon and may include:

  • Enquiry and client information: your name, business name, job title, email address, telephone number, project details, messages, proposals, contracts and payment records.
  • Website and technical information: your IP address, browser and device information, approximate location, referral source, pages viewed, cookie choices, and security or server logs.
  • Business outreach information: a business name, website, sector, location, publicly listed business contact details, a contact’s professional role, source URL, relevant public website observations, communication history, and whether further contact has been declined.
  • Correspondence: information contained in emails, calls, meetings, forms and other communications.

Please do not send sensitive personal information unless it is necessary and I have specifically requested it.

Where information comes from

I collect information directly from you when you contact me, request a quote, use the website, or work with me. For carefully targeted business outreach, I may also use information made public for professional or business purposes, including business websites, company pages, Companies House, reputable business directories and search services.

If I obtained your personal information from a public business source, I will provide privacy information within the period required by law and no later than the first direct communication where that happens sooner.

How and why I use information

Purpose Typical lawful basis
Replying to enquiries, preparing proposals and taking steps before a contract Contract or steps requested before entering a contract
Delivering SEO, web development and related services Contract and legitimate interests in providing and improving services
Managing accounts, payments, tax and business records Contract, legal obligation and legitimate interests
Protecting the website, systems and users from fraud, abuse and security threats Legitimate interests and legal obligation
Measuring website performance and improving content and user experience Consent for non-essential analytics cookies and legitimate interests for essential operational data
Sending relevant, limited business-to-business outreach about services that may benefit a business Legitimate interests where permitted by law, or consent where consent is required
Establishing, exercising or defending legal claims Legitimate interests and legal obligation

Where legitimate interests are used, I consider the likely benefit, the context in which the information was published, the reasonable expectations of the person concerned, and the possible effect on their privacy. I do not rely on legitimate interests where those interests are overridden by your rights and freedoms.

Business outreach and your right to object

Outreach is intended to be relevant, limited and directed at businesses that may reasonably benefit from SEO or web development services. I do not buy mass consumer mailing lists or send indiscriminate bulk email.

You can object to direct marketing at any time. Use the unsubscribe method in the message or email [email protected]. I will stop marketing to you and may retain only the minimum information needed on a suppression list so that your preference continues to be respected.

AI-assisted research and drafting

I may use carefully configured artificial intelligence tools to help find and organise public business information, review publicly available website content, identify possible website or search visibility improvements, and prepare a draft message. This may involve sending relevant public business information and website text to a technology provider such as OpenAI.

AI output is treated as a draft. I review prospects and messages before any contact is sent. I do not use this process to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about individuals.

Cookies and analytics

The website uses essential technologies required for security and operation. It may also use Google Analytics through Google Site Kit to understand how visitors find and use the website. Analytics can involve cookies or similar identifiers and is treated as non-essential where consent is required.

You can delete or block cookies in your browser. Where the website presents a cookie choice, you can use it to accept or reject non-essential cookies. Blocking some essential technologies may affect how the website works. Google provides more information about its use of data at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Who I share information with

I do not sell personal information. I share it only when reasonably necessary with service providers and advisers such as:

  • website hosting, security, backup and content delivery providers;
  • email, communications and cloud storage providers;
  • analytics and search technology providers, including Google where enabled;
  • AI and software providers, including OpenAI where used;
  • accountants, legal advisers and other professional advisers; and
  • courts, regulators, law enforcement or public authorities where disclosure is required or permitted by law.

Service providers are expected to protect information and use it only for the agreed purpose.

International transfers

Some technology providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, I use providers and arrangements designed to protect the information in accordance with UK data protection law, such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or the UK Addendum to approved standard contractual clauses.

How long I keep information

I keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose collected, including legal, accounting and security requirements. Typical periods are:

  • enquiries that do not become client work: up to 24 months after the last meaningful contact;
  • client, project, contract and transaction records: normally up to 6 years after the relationship or transaction ends;
  • business prospect research and outreach records: normally up to 12 months after collection or the last interaction, unless a longer period is justified by an active business relationship;
  • security and server logs: normally up to 12 months, unless they are needed to investigate an incident or meet a legal requirement; and
  • suppression records: the minimum information needed for as long as reasonably necessary to honour an objection or unsubscribe request.

Information may be deleted sooner when it is no longer needed, and may be kept longer where required by law or for a live dispute.

How I protect information

I use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information. These include access controls, secure connections, software updates, backups and limiting access to people or providers that need the information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of your personal information;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • ask for information to be erased;
  • restrict or object to how information is used;
  • receive certain information in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time where processing relies on consent; and
  • object at any time to the use of your information for direct marketing.

These rights are not absolute in every situation. To make a request, email [email protected]. I may need to confirm your identity and will respond within the time required by law.

Complaints

Please contact me first if you have a privacy concern so I can try to resolve it. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office. Visit ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint for current contact details and guidance.

Children’s information

Selvon provides business services and the website is not directed at children. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this website or outreach activity.

External links

The website may link to third-party websites. Their privacy practices are controlled by their own policies, and I am not responsible for how those websites process information.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy when services, technology or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page and the date at the top will be updated.
